Help mark park’s day

A special invitation is going out to everyone in the Matlock area who celebrates a birthday on June 23 – the centenary day of the town’s popular Hall Leys Park.

Organisers of a year-long celebration of the park are inviting people to take part in festivities on the big day – and to help blow out the candles on a giant birthday cake. Anyone with a June 23 birthday should call 01629 761195.

The actual centenary day is just one landmark in an entire year of events called ‘Hall Leys 100’. The target for 2011 is for the Green Flag park, which is operated and maintained by the Derbyshire Dale District Council, to stage 100 centenary events.

Residents and organisations are coming up with their own ideas which can be viewed online at www.HallLeys100.co.uk.
