Masked crusaders and princesses joined monsters and ghouls to mark World Book Day at a village school.
An array of colourful characters turned up for class at Darley Churchtown Church of England Primary School as the school hosted a super heroes and super villains day.
All the pupils came to school in costumes and enjoyed a range of creative activities based around super heroes including making
Top Trumps cards and writing biographies for their chosen super hero characters.
Headteacher Nigel Carr said: “Parents supported the day and the children all thoroughly enjoyed World Book Day 2011.”
The annual event is the biggest celebration of books and reading across the globe.
The day encourages children to explore the pleasures of books and reading.
