I was pleased to note, a few months ago, that you had started to omit respondents’ ages from your “Wider View” column. Now they have reappeared.

Many people do not want their ages publicised, and I feel strongly that age should not be mentioned in newspaper articles except where it has specific relevance to the news item, eg an unusual achievement of a child or elderly person.

I wonder what other readers think, and I hope you will reconsider your policy on this.
