High Peak band raises £40k

The instrumentalists, as part of the Huddersfield Marathon Band, are hoping to become the fastest marching band to complete a marathon next month in London.

The group are aiming to raise £60,000 for the deaf blind charity Sense.

They have already raised more than £40,000, thanks to sponsorship from Fairfield Builders, Rems Cafe Bar in Chapel-en-le-Frith, La Maison in Buxton, The Cock and Pullet in Bakewell, Discover Buxton, Buxton Conservative Club and Buxton Tap House.

The band, which includes members from Fairfield, Sparrow Pit, Whaley Bridge and Tideswell, recently became the first band ever to complete the Oulton Park half marathon in Cheshire in just 3 hours 31 minutes.
