The new pavilion at Hope Sports Club, which provides modern changing facilities and a venue for community meetings, was celebrated during a family sports day attended by over 450 people.

High Peak MP Andrew Bingham said: “It’s an absolutely fantastic facility and I’m sure the people of the Hope Valley will make great use of it.”

The building, which incorporates the latest energy-saving technology including solar panels and a ground source heat pump, has been funded by Derbyshire County Council, Sport England, local businesses and club members.

Secretary of Hope Sports Club, Dr David Garwes, added: “We were delighted to be able to show Andrew the new building, which replaces one that had evolved over a 50-year period but had not kept up with modern requirements.”
