Horror movie to be filmed in Dales town

In Limbo is the first feature film by Wirksworth director Stuart Wheeldon and will be recorded in and around the town of Wirksworth.

The film tells the gloomy tale of a psychology student who upon a visit to an abandoned Peak District hotel comes across the restless spirits of forgotten black-eyed children.

Stuart said: “The film itself is influenced by the famous Cannock Chase sightings of black-eyed children, these were recently reported in numerous national newspapers and local press.”

Independent film company 100 Day Films is aiming to make the movie from script to edited film in just 100 days.

In order to achieve this the production has a strict timescale, which started in March with social networks being established and the first draft being written, and continuing with the casting of actors in late April and the shooting of the film in June. The film is scheduled to be released in July.

Stuart said he chose Wirksworth and the surrounding area as a setting for his film because he spent his childhood there and knows it well.

He said: “I have always found as a film maker it is easier to work with places I know.”

Stuart added that from a cinematic point of view the Derbyshire Dales was a good setting.

Composer Matthew Strachan, best known for the theme tune from Who Wants to be a Millionaire? will be adding his musical expertise to the project.

In order to raise the estimated £10,000 to £30,000 needed for production costs, a Crowdfunding campaign has been launched, Stuart will also be approaching local businesses for sponsorship.
