A former pub in Matlock Green is set to be redeveloped in to 15 houses and car parking spaces.
The plans for The Horseshoe site were approved at a Derbyshire Dales District Council meeting in Matlock on Tuesday.
The pub is set to be converted in to five flats and the rear outbuilding will be turned in to two houses.
A further seven houses are also set to be built on the site.
Developers have pledged to keep the pub’s historic features, including an ancient urinal which is a county treasure – following calls from civic chiefs.
The scheme does not include affordable houses.
A total of 29 car parking spaces will be created on the site.
In addition to car parking the scheme includes a storage space for around eight bikes.
