Motorists are being warned to drive with extreme care after the icy conditions led to a series of accidents across Derbyshire.
At about 8.30am this morning, fire crews were called to Lovers Leap in Stoney Middleton after they received reports of a lorry smashing into the wall of a riverbank.
Firefighters released the driver from the vehicle.
Meanwhile, a car overturned on the Via Gellia Road in Bonsall at about 6.25am and two people escaped from the vehicle.
At about 10pm last night, fire crews rescued a person who was trapped in a vehicle which overturned on Ringlow Road in Hathersage.
At 5.50pm, firefighters attended Stoney Ridge Road at Fox House where a car was on its side and another vehicle had crashed into a ditch.
No one was trapped and the drivers were checked over by a paramedic.
Cllr Simon Spencer, deputy leader of Derbyshire County Council, called on drivers to take “extreme care” in the icy conditions.
The Met Office has issued an alert for cold weather in Derbyshire and called on people to be prepared.
