The Met Office has confirmed that high pressure will build this weekend and last for about the next fortnight.

A Met Office spokesman said: “High pressure is expected to build across the country from the south over the weekend, bringing a spell of mainly dry and settled weather across central and southern parts.

“Dry conditions are likely to prevail through next week and also into the following week, particularly for central and southern areas.

“Temperatures are likely to be near normal for most parts, perhaps warm at times.

“However, some chilly nights are possible with a risk of local frosts.”

The spokesman said that pressure will slowly decline across the UK from October 7, leading to more unsettled and autumnal conditions.
