Jail for Wirksworth drug dealer who assaulted several police officers

A drug dealer who assaulted the officers trying to arrest him has been jailed for nearly four years.

Patrolling officers stopped a car on the B5023 at Wirksworth on June 10 last year and searched the occupants.

Adam Reynolds, who was a passenger, was taken to the town’s police station and found to have drugs secreted on his body.

The 27-year-old assaulted one of the officers trying to detain him.

He was released on bail while the drugs were analysed.

On August 23, patrolling officers stopped Reynolds in Water Lane, Wirksworth, and found him to be carrying wraps of drugs.

He ran away, jumped on a police car and assaulted several officers before they managed to detain him.

Reynolds, of Snowfield View, Wirksworth, was sentenced at Derby Crown Court at the end of last month.

He was given three years for possessing heroin with the intent to supply and five months for common assault in relation to the crimes he committed on June 10. He was also given four months for assaulting a constable on August 23, to be served consecutively.

He was given two months for possessing diamorphine on August 23, eight months for assaulting two constables on the same date and one month for damaging a police car, all to be served concurrently.

Reynolds pleaded guilty to all the charges.
