A Wirksworth woman celebrated her 90th birthday last week - and she’s followed her mum into the pages of the Mercury.
Joan Gregory was all smiles after reaching 90 last week.
We featured Joan’s mum Elizabeth Colebourne when she reached the milestone back in 1982 - so we felt it was only right that we did the same for Joan.
Joan was born on August 17, 1921, in Wirksworth. She married Bill Gregory in 1943 and they lived in Wirksworth until Bill passed away in 2009.
Her grandson Carl said: “Nanna owned a greengrocers shop in the town centre. She loved her shop and became very successful. I think this showed how determined and hard working she was and still is to make a success of her business all those years ago. I remember spending many Saturdays with them at the shop either helping with deliveries or just eating grapes, a particular favourite of Nanna’s”
