Despite the immediate closure of 224 of its clothing stores nationwide, Peacock’s Matlock branch is remaining open.
The shop’s 15 employees are breathing a sigh of relief as their jobs are safe for the foreseeable future.
The store is in part of the Co-op store in Bakewell Road.
Peacock’s went into administration in January this year after failing to restructure a key £240m part of its total £750m debt.
This, combined with a surplus of stores and unsuitable capital structure, led to the business becoming financially unviable.
Hope still remains for Peacock’s, though, as the Edinburgh Woollen Mill has struck a deal whereby 338 stores will remain open in a take-over bid that will save 6,000 jobs in total.
However, 3,100 staff will still be made redundant.
