Laptops and jewellery stolen during daylight burglary in Matlock

A burglar who broke into a house during the day made off with laptops and jewellery.

The property, in Cavendish Road, Matlock, was broken into at about 3pm yesterday.

Four laptops - two Acer Aspires, a Toshiba and a Dell – were stolen along with a wristwatch and jewellery including two signet rings.

A neighbour saw a man acting suspiciously around the house at the time of the offence and police want to hear from anyone else with information.

The suspect was white, of stocky build, about 5ft 7in and aged about 25. He wore a baseball cap with a big peak and a light bomber jacket with red and blue piping.

A police spokesman said: “Do you recognise anyone of that description, did you see the man walking in the area or have you been offered laptops or jewellery for sale? Witnesses or anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting crime reference 42712/14. You can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
