Dales residents are being urged to go through their wardrobes and dig out unwanted clothes and accessories for Matlock’s first swap shop retail experience.
The event, which takes place on Sunday, August 19, at the Black Hippo Bar, Bakewell Road, has been organised by local vintage enthusiast Victoria Arran.
Residents can drop off unwanted, good-condition clothing between 9am and noon and exchange them for swap shop vouchers.
The vouchers can then be exchanged between 1pm and 6pm for other people’s unwanted clothing, free of charge.
Victoria said: “As times are difficult we often forget to make time for a little retail therapy. The Swap Shop is an ideal opportunity for us to clear out our wardrobes and revitalise it with someone else’s unwanted treasures. We are all becoming more thrifty and careful with our pennies, and these events are so popular in the cities, so I see this as the perfect opportunity to pick up a new outfit completely free of charge.”
Visitors to the Swap Shop can also enjoy discounted beauty treatments, which will be offered by Lisa McTighe from Fresh, Matlock.
All items left behind after the event will be donated to Bakewell Charity, The Helen’s Trust, which supports people with incurable illnesses, enabling them to stay at home.
