A solicitor at the Derbyshire Law Centre, which has an office in Matlock, has been shortlisted for a national recognition as the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year.
Law Centre Housing solicitor Lisa Haythorne was nominated by her colleagues and is onw of three lawyers to achieve the shortlist for the very competitive Social and Welfare Law category.
Lisa, who has worked with legally aided clients for almost 20 years, said: “I am thrilled to have been selected as a finalist for these awards.
“They are the highlight of the year for those of us working in legal aid and providing free legal advice. The competition is fierce.
“To have been shortlisted is a huge honour.”
Senior Solicitor Tony McIlveen added: “Lisa has an impressive success rate for keeping clients in their homes and obtaining housing for homeless clients.
“She is an impressive legal aid lawyer through and through whose dedication has made a difference to the lives of many people in Derbyshire who might otherwise have been evicted or remained homeless.”
