The Leader of cash-strapped Derbyshire Dales District Council has issued a stark warning to residents about the future of their local services.
In an unprecedented move, Cllr Lewis Rose has written to the Mercury to explain the funding crisis facing the authority and putting residents on alert that they can no longer be shielded from its effects.
He warned: “Those of us who are fortunate enough to live in the Derbyshire Dales and have come to expect and receive excellent local services could get an unwanted wake-up call in the very near future.
“Every service we deliver is under scrutiny and none is sacrosanct.
“Our message is that things have to change.”
