LETTER: Investigation needed to prevent future accidents

With reference to your recent article about crashes on the Dronfield by pass. Derbyshire County Council offered a very tame excuse with regard to the reason why the road had not be gritted.

There is a weather forecast on TV which warned of the possibility of freezing temperatures.

I would point out to the council that the same happened last year at exactly the same spot cars going out of control when the road had not been gritted.

What needs to be done is for an investigation to take place why this particular part of the by pass is subject to ice forming before any further accidents which could result in worse injuries than the accident last week.
