Lions help youngsters

A charity that supports young people with terminal illnesses has been given a cash boost thanks to a festive supermarket dash.

Matlock Lions Club raised £450 from a Christmas trolley dash, which they gave to Rainbows Hospice at a ceremony in the Square and Compass, Darley Bridge.

Lion president Peter Smissen presented a cheque for the amount to Paula North, the Derbyshire fund–raiser for the charity.

Peter said: “It is a pleasure to be able to assist such an amazing organisation that supports children and their families, throughout such a difficult period in their lives.

“I should particularly like to thank everyone who bought tickets from us, in the Co-op supermarket, during the promotion of the trolley dash.

“We are also indebted to Martyn Ellson and his colleagues in the store for all their help and generosity.”
