Lorry arson on television

Detectives will be appealing for the public’s help this week when a Wirksworth case features on the BBC’s Crimewatch Roadshow.

The live programme, screened on BBC1 at 9.15am on Friday, June 17, will include the arson attack at Milltech Haulage.

A reconstruction of the attack, which happened on Friday, April 8, has already been filmed ahead of the show and Det Sgt Tim Nye, of Matlock CID, hopes the Crimewatch appeal will bring forward new information.

He said: “Six lorries, along with the cargo they were carrying, were badly damaged by this large fire and it’s my hope that the reconstruction will jog local memories and give us the information we need to catch the arsonist.”
