Lorry loses control and crashes into electricity substation

A lorry ploughed into an electricity substation on a major Sheffield road - leaving the driver trapped in his cab.

The lorry smashed into a substation next to J Horne Starlight on Penistone Road, Owlerton, with the lorry ending up wedged inside.

Police, firefighters and paramedics are at the scene.

One city-bound lane of Penistone Road is blocked off while emergency services are dealing with the incident.

A fire service spokesman said the driver was cut free from his cab by firefighters, who were alerted to the crash at noon.

A South Yorkshire Spokesman said the lorry was carrying rubble.

It collided with a number of bollards before crashing.
