Man, 60, rescued from River Derwent

A 60–year–old man was rescued from the River Derwent after a passer–by heard his cries for help.

Police officers and the ambulance service were called when the man, of Matlock, fell in the river adjacent to Causeway Lane, Matlock, at around 10.20pm on Tuesday, March 25.

He was removed from the river by 10.27pm and taken to hospital for treatment of suspected hyperthermia and a minor head injury.

His condition was not thought to be serious.
