A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a man was found in Matlock.
The man was discovered by a member of the public at about 10.50am on Sunday, October 16 in the grounds of the library in Steep Turnpike.
He has not yet been formally identified but he is thought to be in his 40s. A post mortem examination will take place later today.
A 43-year-old man was arrested in Matlock late last night on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody and will be questioned by detectives today.
A cordon remains in place around the library while forensic work is carried out. The library will remain closed today.
Inspector Bryan Hall, section inspector thanked residents for their assistance. He said: “The people of Matlock have been very supportive of the investigation so far and I want to thank them for their help.
“While the closure of the library may cause some inconvenience today, I know residents will understand that it’s necessary as part of the inquiry.”
