Man rescued after breaking leg in fall

Rescuers attended a remote location when a 46–year–old man fell.

Edale and Buxton mountain rescue teams were called to Stanage Edge on Wednesday afternoon, December 4, when a Bamford man fell three feet and sustained a serious fracture to his thigh bone.

The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire air ambulance was called to assist and the Royal Air Force Sea King was also put into action to help the man. The injured man was winched from the scene by the RAF and flown to the Northern General Hospital, in Sheffield, for treatment.

He has since had an operation to repair his broken leg with a metal plate and should go on to make a good recovery.

Mountain rescue team members will be out fundraising at Barkers Pool, in Sheffield, on Saturday, December 14, and are hoping for generious festive donations.
