We’re looking to our readers once again to shed some light on a photograph from the archives.
This charming snap was discovered in the archive at the offices of the Buxton Advertiser by photographer Jason Chadwick.
It was taken in the 1930s and shows Marjorie Turner, who beat off stiff competition from ten other candidates to be crowned Matlock Carnival Queen.
Miss Turner was well known in the district having won the Bradbury Cup as the prettiest girl in the previous carnival.
If anybody has any more information about Marjorie Turner, we’d love them to get in touch.
Also, if you have any pictures of carnival queens from years gone by, we’d love to feature them right here in Memory Lane.
We’re always on the lookout for old photographs, so if you can send in pictures from yesteryear with interesting stories that you would like to share with other readers, we’ll do our best to try and feature them. Just drop them into the office.
