Matlock Bath mountain rescue

Mounatin rescuers were called to Matlock Bath recently after a man fell 15 metres from a cliff top path.

On May 16, the man was walking along the path – which runs high above the River Derwent – when he fell and sustained serious head and spinal injuries.

The East Midlands Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and ambulance paramedics were first on scene and provided initial treatment.

Derby Mountain Rescue Team were then called due to terrain and the steep path that had to be negotiated to recover the casualty.

A specialist stretcher and rope back up system were used to carry the man down to the riverside path and then along to the road, where he was transferred into a road ambulance and taken to hospital for further treatment.
