Matlock in Bloom and town council part ways
At a meeting of Matlock Town Council on Tuesday, April 16, volunteers spoke out to say that, unless the council allowed them to break away, they would all resign their posts in May.
A spokesman for the group explained: “We have spent some time making this decision, but we have all been left feeling like we are underachieving.

There was no acrimony on behalf of the council, however, and many members expressed their disappointment at the relationship ending.
Cllr Sue Burfoot said: “This is hopefully going to be a positive move. The fact is, Matlock In Bloom feel like they’ve been held back and want to progress the group’s aim.”
Cllr Geoff Stevens added: “It’s a little sad to be parting ways, but it will hopefully be a positive thing.”
Members were unanimous in their decision to allow the group to break away.
