A sporting Matlock athlete is to run 128 miles in three days to raise money for charity.

On August 19, Andy Carr will set off on an epic journey running from Hawkshead in Cumbria, via Manchester, to Chesterfield.

Andy will run nearly five back-to-back marathons in the three days. The charities he is running for are: Matlock disability charity, Greenaway Workshop; and Mountain Rescue England and Wales

Andy, 28, has worked as store manager outdoor shop, Hawkshead, for over 9 months but has never embarked on anything to this level.

“I enjoy hill walking in the country and prior to my training, the longest I had ever walked is 20 miles. This journey will push me to the limit, but all I can think is that I am doing something worthwhile for some fantastic causes,” said Andy.

“My training started properly in May, running up and down the stairs at work throughout the day and jogging 10 miles back from work at the end of the day. This has built up to 28 mile walks and competing in fell races to deal with tough terrain ahead.”

Andy will be leaving from the flagship store at Hawkshead at around 10am, planning a stop at Headquarters before finishing up at the Chesterfield store on the Wednesday.
