Children’s theme park Gulliver’s is gearing up to hand over more than £15,000 for children’s charity Dreams Come True after a marathon fundraising weekend.
The money was raised by the park donating £1 from every ticket sold to the charity throughout the weekend of Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April as five of its staff members completed the Virgin London Marathon - also in aid of Dreams Come True.
Staff and customers sponsored the runners via text and an online fundraising page, while families also donated money through charity buckets located around all three Gulliver’s theme parks in Warrington, Matlock Bath and Milton Keynes to boost the generous donation further.
The total raised so far amounts to more than £15,000. All of the money raised will go towards making the individual dreams of five seriously or terminally ill children come true - from family holidays to bedroom makeovers and expensive sensory play equipment
Dean Kimberley, director of guest services at the theme park chain, was one of five staff members who completed the marathon.
He said: “It all went really well - most of us had a pretty comfortable run and the crowd was fantastic with a record turn-out of more than 700,000.
“Thank you to everyone who helped us to raise an incredible amount for a wonderful cause.”
