Pupils from primary schools in Matlock took part in the 13th annual football tournament run by the town’s Fairtrade group.

Councillor Helen Legood presented trophies to the winners, All Saints Primary (overall) and South Darley Primary (Fair Play).

For the first time the group had recruited footballers from Matlock Town Academy to help with refereeing and training for the children. This

was something which organiser, Laura Stevens, greatly appreciated, hoping that this link with the town’s football team will continue.

schoolchildren learned about the benefits of Fairtrade and how it is much more than tea, coffee and bananas!

Financial support for the tournament came from Derbyshire County Council member Sue Burfoot who is pictured with players.
