Matlock schools asked to donate text books

Schools in Matlock are being asked to donate their old text books to underprivileged youngsters in Africa.

The book donation is part of the nationwide ‘Help a South African School’ project, set up in conjunction with the South African fruit industry and grower trade association, Hortgro Services.

For every farm worker there are, on average, four dependants that rely on the fruit industry to provide education, housing, health and social care.

Schools wishing to donate some of their unwanted books should visit by next Friday. Once registered, they will receive a box for the book donation, which will be collected free of charge at the beginning of June.
