Matlock: Sheep killed in suspected dog attack

One sheep died and two were injured after a suspected dog attack in Matlock this week.

Police are calling for owners to keep their dogs on leads following the incident, which was just after 9pm on Wednesday, March 11.

The police were called following a suspected dog attack to sheep in a field in Stanton Lees, Matlock.

PC Simon Wolverson from the Tideswell, Litton, Baslow and Beeley Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “We’re urging dog owners to act responsibly and keep their dogs under control around farm animals; especially as lambing season is set to get underway. These types of incidents cause a lot of distress to animals.

“We’re also encouraging residents and visitors to be vigilant and to report any information via 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police. Over the coming weeks, we will be putting up posters and signage to reinforce the message.”
