Matlock shop needs public support

THE owners of a Matlock sandwich shop are making a final plea for public support amid fears they might be forced to close down forever.

Sheila Higton, owner of Mrs Tiggywinkles, has told the Mercury how the shop is “barely staying afloat” and that takings are £150 less per day than they were last year.

While the shop has already cut staff and reduced opening hours, things have not been improving.

Owing to this, Sheila is giving it until Easter to see if the team can turn things around. But if they don’t, she will be forced to close the shop permanently.

Daughter and shop manager Lisa Higton said: “My mum’s had the business in Matlock for 12 years now and it would be such a shame for another old shop in the town to close down.

“We really hope that people will start supporting us again or we will have no other option but to shut up shop.”

Will this prompt you to support Mrs Tiggywinkles more? Do you think it would be a sad thing if this sandwich shop was forced to close down? Let us know by emailing [email protected], tweeting to @MatMerc or joining the conversation on our Facebook page.
