An 18–year–old woman has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a man was stabbed in Matlock.

The 22–year–old victim was rushed to Nottingham Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment of serious stab wounds following the incident in Linden Grove, Matlock, shortly before midnight on Thursday, April 24.

Nicole Ryder, formerly of Matlock but currently residing at Elton Street, Chesterfield, was arrested at the scene on an initial charge of suspected attempted murder.

However after being interviewed by police, she was charged with GBH.

Ryder appeared in Chesterfield magistrates’ court on Saturday.

She is now due to appear at Derby Crown Court on August 22 to answer to the charges. She has yet to enter a plea.

The victim has now been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.

Two further people were arrested in connection to the stabbing – a 15–year–old girl for assisting an offender and a 28–year–old man for obstructing police in the execution of their duties.

Both have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Inspector Richard Booth, who is in charge of policing in the Derbyshire Dales, said: “This is an isolated incident.

“It took place in a private dwelling and all the parties were known to each other.

“There was no perceived risk to the public.”

He reassured residents that they are not at increased risk of violent crime following the incident.

“Derbyshire Dales is still one of the safest places to live,” Insp Booth continued.

“It’s difficult to target offences that take place in the privacy of people’s homes.”

He said the police investigate the circumstances of each offence and try to take positive action.

“We make sure we have got support in place for victims of violent crime and make sure we get a positive outcome to reduce the risk of any repeat offences,” Insp Booth added.

“We will continue to be as proactive as possible.”
