The judging panel of industry experts were impressed by the savings One Stop Matlock made by implementing sustainable alternatives in store, by switching to LED and halogen bulbs, putting timers on all plugs and investing in efficient refrigerator doors. The store has now reduced its energy bills by 42 per cent as a result.

Shop owner, Dee Sadani, said: “Being short listed in the awards created a real talking point in the area and for the store. Customers came in and praised staff so it was a boost to morale for all of us.

“I can’t wait to see the reaction from our customer’s when they know that we have won the award.”

“The way we shop has changed forever and retailers like One Stop Matlock play an important role in our local communities,” added Nick Shanagher, managing director of Newtrade.
