Sixth formers Georgia Bettis and Sarah Needham, of Highfields School, Matlock, have joined the Patient Participation Group (PPG) of Lime Grove Medical Centre, Matlock.

The 17–year–olds have already made an impact by underlining the importance of students having ready access to mental health services through their GP when suffering from stress in the run–up to exams.

They also recommended producing a newsletter containing healthy lifestyle messages for youngsters and explaining how the practice could help them.

Sarah said: “It’s been really rewarding to put our point of view across as young people. For example, I don’t think the practice appreciated how apprehensive many children and young people feel about seeing their GP.”
