Matlock teen suspected of robbing pensioner

A Matlock teenager has been arrested by police on suspicion of robbing a pensioner at cash machine.

At 2.45pm yesterday (Wednesday) a 65-year-old man from Beeley was withdrawing cash out of the Lloyds ATM in Causeway Lane, Matlock.

Suddenly, a teenager approached the man, snatched his wallet and ran in the direction of Firs Parade.

The pensioner attempted to chase after the robber but fell in the pursuit, causing him to bang his head.

A 17-year-old man, of Matlock, was arrested by police shortly after. He was charged with robbery is on currently on bail awaiting a court date.

The victim was not seriously injured in the fall but was taken to hospital for treatment.
