MATLOCK: Three–wheeled charity roadtrip

BIG-HEARTED fundraisers are getting revved up to take on a UK trek in three–wheeled motor cars in order to raise thousands of pounds for a charity close to their home.

Andrew Sharpe and his sons Robert and Richard, of Fine Oak Furniture, Matlock, will be joined by craftsman Martyn Rhodes, of Clay Cross, in trying to raise £30,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital’s Parent’s Association for Children with Tumours and Leukaemia (PACT) charity.

The teams will be travelling from Land’s End to John O’Groats in Reliant Robins in order to raise the cash.

The charity helps youngsters who are suffering from tumours and leukaemia at the same time as providing support for their families.

The cause is very poignant for the fab–four due to the fact that Martyn’s 17–year–old son Jonathan passed away with Hodgkins Lymphoma and Richard’s two–year–old son Archie is currently receiving treatment for leukaemia.

Andrew said: “The treatment and service from PACT is outstanding so we thought we wanted to put something back into the system for all their help and support.”

The fundraisers have had a jump start in their fundraising already thanks to support from Grafika Ltd, of Bakewell, Gulliver’s Theme Parks, Twigg, Lakeland Land Rover and Groupauto.

Andrew added: “Our goal is to raise £30,000 to provide a new caravan by the seaside at Filey for use by PACT families whose children are under treatment for tumours and leukaemia at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.”

The Parents’ Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia was founded in 1977 and provides a range of support services for families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer.

The Round Robin Challenge will start on April 15.
