Mill hopes to host dance

A LANDMARK building is hoping to revive its reputation for hosting ballroom dancing.

Locals used to flock to canteen on the side of Masson Mills, in Matlock Bath, in the 1940s and 1950s to dance the night away.

Now a shopping centre, Masson Mills wants to host ballroom dances again and is asking the public whether they would be interested in taking part in them.

The venue has already enlisted the help of a seven piece saxophone group Silversax, and is hoping to start the dances at the end of June with proceeds going to charity.

Anyone interested, or with pictures of the dances from the 40s and 50s that could be used in a display, is asked to call either Andrew or Jennie at Masson Mills on 01629 760208.
