While the health and safety fanatics of the present day would be mortified to see activities like this in a public pool – some may consider it a refreshing blast from the past.

At the point the lens clicked, it does appear that they boy with his back to the photographer was in line for a victory in what was, no doubt, a fantastic watery challenge
