Mother–of–two killed in head–on collision

Tributes have been paid to a mother–of–two who was tragically killed in a head–on collision.

Wendy Jayne Slater, of Rakes Road, Monyash, was travelling along the A515 Flagg Moor stretch on Thursday, April 24, at 6.45am when the silver Vauxhall Corsa she was driving was involved in a collision with a green Jaguar.

The 45–year–old was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jaguar, a 55–year–old man from the Chapel–en–le–Frith area, was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Wendy leaves behind a husband and two children.

Commenting on Facebook, Caroline Prince said: “It’s just so horrible, such a lovely woman. Couldn’t sleep last night thinking of her poor little kids and husband.

“Wish there was something we could do.”

Vivian Tabbenor added: “Will miss you on the school run. God bless you everyone will keep a special eye on your two.”

Sam Hodkin said: “It is so tragic that life can be taken so suddenly and unexpectedly. Thoughts are with Wendy’s family. RIP Wendy.”

The Collision Investigation Unit is appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who was in the area at the time to contact them on 101.
