Kelly Murray’s appeal in last week’s Derbyshire Times led to international media attention, and concerned readers rushed to her aid.

One man, who didn’t want to be named, donated £3000, while another, Brighton dentist Paul Cullen, offered to fit her veneers for free.

Mum-of-two Kelly suffers from a one-in-a-million cancer-like illness, langerhan cell hisiocytosis, that has caused her teeth to fall out. But she said the response has been ‘overwhelming’.

She added: “I couldn’t believe it when I heard this man was going to donate £3000. I just want to thank him, even though I don’t know his name.

“If the dentist will be able to fit my veneers, the money will help give my sons a holiday to remember.”
