Named and shamed: The takeaways and restaurants with horrendous hygiene standards

The Derbyshire Times has compiled a list of pubs, clubs, bars, restaurants, takeaways, bakeries and sandwich shops in the region that have landed the worst marks from the Food Standard Agency in 2015.

The inspections look at three areas - how hygienically food is handled, the condition of the structure of the buildings and how the business records what it does to make sure food is safe.

And one bakery has been condemned by inspectors with zero ratings and told it needs urgent improvement.

Henstocks Bakers, on Chatsworth Road, was the only Chesterfield food outlet to receive a zero-rating after it was visited on August 20 last year.

However, many outlets picked up a one-star rating, out of a possible five, which means major improvements are needed.

The most recent one-star rating came from Saltergate Cafeteria, on Saltergate, which was visited on November 23, 2015.

Spires Kitchen, of Newbold Road, was hit with the one-star score following a visit in September, while Highfield Fish & Chips on Highfield Road was given with the same rating after a visit in August.

Henstocks Bakers on West Bars in Chesterfield was also given the low rating after an inspection on April 9.

The Golden Fleece, on Knifesmithsgate, and Thyme to eat, at The Shambles, were also told they needed major improvements with a one-star rating after inspections in January 2015.

But the Golden Fleece is now under new management and awaiting a new score.
