New bench along canal

The pair, who work at Wirksworth’s Eco Centre, built the bench during the Tapton Celebration Weekend event on September 20 and 21, under the gaze of the visiting public.

During the Tapton Celebration Weekend event, on 20th and 21st September, master craftsmen Trevor Wragg and Gordon Walton, under the gaze of the visiting public, built a beautiful dry stone bench along the banks of the Chesterfield canal.

Both Trevor and Gordon work at the Eco Centre near Wirksworth and volunteered their time; we were very lucky to have them as their skills are in demand internationally! The sandstone was kindly donated by Bretton Moor Quarry in Eyam Hope Valley and the finished bench is a fantastic legacy of a very successful event.
