New book gives readers an insight into how Matlock has changed over the years

The photographic history of the Matlocks has been preserved in a new book.

Matlock and Matlock Bath Through Time is the latest in the popular Through Time series released by published Amberley.

Author Alan Roberts takes readers on a journey through the ages of this picturesque and historic area.

Alan moved to Buxton to work as a research scientist at the former Safety in Mines Research Establishment.

Upon retiring was chief executive of the Health and Safety Laboratory.

He enjoys walking through the Peak District and this, coupled with his interest in research, has moved him to write three books about the area – The Coal Mines of Buxton, Turnpike Roads around Buxton and Watermills on the Derbyshire Wye.

This latest addition to his cateloguw of works uses images and illustration from days gone by, as well as photographs of how Matlock and Matlock Bath look now, to allow readers to see the changes which have taken place over the past century.

The book is priced at £14.99 and further information on it is available by visiting the publisher’s website www.amberley–
