A new inspector takes over the policing reins across the Derbyshire Dales

Inspector Dave Nash has recently taken over the reins from Inspector Richard Booth and is now responsible for policing Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and surrounding areas.

Inspector Nash holds more than 25 years of policing service which has seen him experience a number of roles and sections.

He said: “I am proud to have been given the opportunity to manage the Derbyshire Dales Local Policing Unit and I have a genuine desire to make the Derbyshire Dales an even safer place to work, live and visit.”

Dave first began his policing career in June 1991 after joining the Ministry of Defence Police, before transferring to Derbyshire Constabulary in 1995. Since joining the force, Inspector Nash has spent time at Chesterfield, Clay Cross, Bakewell and Matlock, and worked his way from patrol constable, to sergeant, before promotion to inspector in 2014.

He said: “During my policing service I have spent time at Bakewell, Matlock and Ashbourne as both a PC and a sergeant so I have a good understanding of the areas, the issues that affects it, and also what local people are concerned about, including rural crime, violent crime, drug misuse, and anti-social behaviour.

“I believe that a strong relationship between the police and local community is vital. I intend to continue with the good work of my predecessor Inspector Booth, working with our partners and communities to build even safer neighbourhoods.

“I will be spending the coming weeks heading out and meeting the public that we serve. I am also interested in seeking new partners and volunteers; together we can improve services across the Derbyshire Dales.”
