New toilets set for park

New toilets look set for Matlock’s Hall Leys Park.

Planning officers have recommended approval for a new block, to replace the old one, on Causeway Lane.

The applicants state the new building will be well ventilated, robust and hygienic.

Derbyshire County Council has raised concerns about the new-look toilets fearing they could attract crime and anti-social behaviour.

But district council planners said the development would provide a “much needed, modernised facility to the park.”

They added the functional and visual benefits of the building outweighed the potential risk of anti-social behaviour.

The application is to be decided by district councillors on Tuesday March 1 at 6pm in Matlock Town Hall.
