THE High Peak and Derbyshire Dales has a new face in charge of policing in the area.

Chief Superintendent Gary Knighton started his new role as Divisional Commander for B Division this month.

He replaces Peter Lewis who retired from the force after 30 years service.

Gary has 23 years service with Derbyshire Constabulary and has had a variety of roles within that time.

He started his career when he was 20 years old at Clay Cross as a patrol constable.

Gary said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the Divisional Commander for B Division.

“The division is a low crime area and I will be working hard together with my team, partners and our communities to keep people safe, tackle crime and to provide a high quality service.”
