Art exhibition: Chesterfield Art Club is opening its first exhibition of the year at the Parish Hall, Ashover on Monday, May 2 to coincide with the Ashover May Day celebrations. The exhibition is for one day only from 10am to 5pm and admission is free. Club Chairman John Wardle said: “This exhibition is very popular with our supporters and we normally do well. The paintings, all original, are very sensibly priced and represent extremely good value.”
Charity dance: There is a charity line dance at Edgefold Club on Friday, May 6 at 7.30pm. The night is in aid of Help for Heroes and Forever Fourth, a charity which helps the soldiers and families from the 4th Regiment Royal Artillery. Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
Acoustic show: Folk band Elbow Jane are playing at Ashover Village Hall on Friday, April 29. The five-piece band from Merseyside recently signed to legendary folk label Fellside Records, Tickets are £12.50, with concessions £11. The bar opens at 7.30pm and the concert begins at 8pm.
Spring search: Families from across Derbyshire are invited to Lathkill Dale National Nature Reserve on the May Day bank holiday (May 2) to search for signs of spring. Free activities will run from 11am until 3:30pm.
Roads chat: Road policing officers are hosting an online discussion between 7pm and 8pm on Tuesday, May 3 at www.derbyshire.police.uk. They will be talking about the work they carry out on the county’s roads.
