Nuisance drivers on Matlock street to be targeted by police

Police are stepping up patrols following complaints from residents on a Matlock street that motorists are parking unsafely.

Officers in Matlock have heard how some motorists are parking adjacent to the central solid white line systems in place in the area on Lime Street Road, making it very difficult for passing traffic.

Matlock Safer Neighbourhood officer, Police Constable Gary Ferguson, said: “Drivers should be aware that it is illegal to park adjacent to the solid white line systems, which if found guilty could attract a fine and penalty points on their driving licence.

“The team and I will be carrying out targeted patrols of that area and issuing Traffic Offence Reports to drivers who infringe the parking regulations.”

Officers say they will now will be heading out on increased patrols at key times and will be speaking to drivers about the importance of safe and considerate driving to help keep the roads safe for both motorists and pedestrians.
