Nursery rated outstanding for second year

Staff, parents and children are celebrating after their nursery was marked outstanding for the second year running in a top-level inspection.

The glowing report for Children 1st@St Peter & St Paul in Calow resulted from an Ofsted inspector’s visit.

Margaret Mason, founder and chief executive of Children 1st Day Nurseries which owns the Calow nursery, said: “The category of outstanding has been achieved by only 13% of nurseries in England whichshows the importance of this judgement. The report is a credit to the sustained hard work of everyone at St Peter and St Paul.”

The inspector praised the ‘inspirational leadership’ demonstrated by a manager whose ‘drive and commitment are exceptional,’ and staff who are ‘exceptionally skilled’ and who work ‘highly effectively as a team.’

The personal development of the children was judged to be excellent with youngsters showing high standards of behaviour, being gentle and kind with each other and highly inquisitive, motivated learners.

Nursery manager Laura Wildin said: “We have in place our own very thorough systems of self-evaluation but nevertheless it is fantastic to receive this validation of our outstanding provision by Ofsted.”
